David Averdunk to lead Helaba’s Operations division

David Averdunk (47) will become Head of Operations at Helaba with effect from 1 October 2026. He will report directly to Dr Sonja Rauner, Helaba’s Chief Information Officer and Chief Operating Officer (CIO/COO) and a member of the bank’s Executive Board.

Averdunk has served as Head of Customer Support and Deputy Director of Operations at Solaris SE since 2025. In these roles, he has been responsible for expanding the company’s customer-facing functions. He previously held the position of Compliance Operations Group Lead at Trade Republic Bank GmbH. Before that, Averdunk held various positions at N26 Bank AG and spent 14 years working in project management and operations at HSBC Germany and within the wider HSBC Group.

He succeeds Markus Jörg, who retired on 31 May 2026.

“We are delighted that David Averdunk, an accomplished executive with many years of experience in transformation projects and operations, will be joining our bank. We are confident that under his leadership, the Operations division will continue to evolve successfully,” said Dr Sonja Rauner.
