New trams and modernisation of the rail infrastructure in Jena

Over the next few years, Jenaer Nahverkehr GmbH will be renewing its tram fleet and modernising the associated infrastructure in Jena.

The project involves the procurement of 33 trams, refurbishment work at the depot in Burgau and modifications to the rail network. The total investment amounts to €153 million.

As part of this, Helaba is providing the financing concept for the investments not covered by grants, relating to the first 24 trams and the infrastructure measures.
