Social Engagement

Creating greater value for society is part of our identity. Our corporate citizenship gives concrete expression to this commitment – through our engagement with society and our employees: via networks, social volunteering, donations and sponsorship.

For society

Give time. Make a difference. We give our colleagues two days a year to devote to their involvement in charitable organisations and social projects. They can use this time for social days and other voluntary work to work together to support various social causes.

Selected projects

Clean Up Day

Getting stuck in for the environment: on Clean Up Day, colleagues work together to clear rubbish from Frankfurt’s parks. In this way, they combine volunteering with practical action on the ground.

Langen Children’s and Youth Farm

Support that makes a difference locally: During a social day, colleagues lend a hand at the youth and children’s farm in Langen – whether it’s helping to extend a chicken coop or build a new barefoot trail.

HelaPride social day

A symbol of respect and diversity: colleagues are cleaning ‘stumbling stones’ in various districts of Frankfurt – thereby making remembrance visible in public spaces.

JOBLINGE

Supporting young people on their journey: We have been supporting JOBLINGE for many years. Our colleagues get involved in social days and mentoring schemes, helping young people on their path to vocational training and a career.

Outstanding commitment

Employer Award 2026

In 2026, we were presented with the Employer Award from the Hessian Ministry of the Interior for the first time. This recognises our commitment to colleagues who volunteer in fire and disaster response services.

Donations and Sponsorship

Nurturing talent. Creating opportunities. Through donations and sponsorship, we support projects in the fields of education, society and social welfare, the arts and culture, sport, science and business. In 2025, we provided €2.6 million in support for projects in these areas. Our regional focus is on Hesse and Thuringia, as well as North Rhine-Westphalia and Brandenburg, where we operate as a central bank for savings banks.

TSBV Oberhof

Young talents need support to realise their potential. That is why we have been promoting young talent in luge for many years and supporting the Thuringian Luge and Bobsleigh Association in Oberhof. In this way, we support young athletes on their sporting journey.

Helaba Classics

In partnership with the Alte Oper Frankfurt, we provide school pupils with special cultural experiences as part of the Helaba Classics programme. During concert visits, they meet renowned musicians and discover the world of classical music at first hand. In this way, we give young people direct access to classical music.

International Charlemagne Prize

A strong Europe needs people who take responsibility and help shape its future. As part of the Sparkassen-Finanzgruppe’s premium sponsorship programme, we support the City of Aachen’s International Charlemagne Prize. In doing so, we promote dialogue on Europe’s future.

Anyone who wants to strengthen a company’s long-term viability must also invest in the long-term viability of society.

Diversity and democratic responsibility

Diversity Charter

“When diversity wins, everyone wins.” We share this philosophy of the Diversity Charter. Through our diversity policy and our diversity management, we promote equal opportunities and a range of perspectives within the company. In doing so, we have a specific target: by 2030, the proportion of female managers is to rise to 33 per cent.

Charter of Democracy

In spring 2026, we signed the ‘Charter of Democracy’ – an initiative by Hessian companies that promotes employees’ involvement in local politics. In doing so, we support our colleagues’ involvement in local politics as well as dialogue on democracy, diversity and social responsibility.
