As a commercial bank, we are successful on both a national and international level. As a Landesbank, we feel a special connection to our home region of Hesse and Thuringia. Since 2012, we have also been able to count the federal states of North Rhine-Westphalia and Brandenburg as part of our core region. Close links with our owner states, deep local roots and a firmly embedded place in the Sparkassen-Finanzgruppe are key elements that define our identity. Our social commitment is evidence that we take our responsibility seriously.
The Frankfurter Sparkasse Foundation supports many cultural, social, local and educational projects in and around Frankfurt. We are convinced that the better the lives of the citizens of Frankfurt and its environs are, the more successful Frankfurter Sparkasse is. With its foundation, Frankfurter Sparkasse has placed its social activities on an independent financial footing. The Frankfurter Sparkasse Foundation is endowed with capital of approximately EUR 17.9 million.
In order to promote the arts, Helaba supports museums and exhibition projects, in particular the Museum for Modern Art (MMK) and the Städel Museum in Frankfurt.
In terms of its own art collection, Helaba concentrates on works by contemporary international artists. Our focus is on new young talent; supporting and promoting them is one of Helaba’s primary goals.
It is important to us that the Rhine-Main area should offer Bundesliga-level football and that is why we have been supporting Eintracht Frankfurt since 2003, and as a Premium Partner since 2006. In 2017, our subsidiary Frankfurter Sparkasse took over the role of Premium Partner. Since 2018, Helaba is Premium Partner of 1. FFC Frankfurt, the sucessful womens soccer team.
Customers of Frankfurter Sparkasse can choose to have the AdlerCard, a Sparkasse debit card with an Eintracht design. Every AdlerCard is regularly entered in prize draws in which exclusive match tickets, fan merchandise and more can be won.
The House of Finance at the Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main is one of the leading research and teaching establishments in the areas of financial economy and financial law. With the support of Helaba, Frankfurt’s Goethe University established an endowed chair in 2017 for the field of “Real Estate Finance” at the House of Finance. From 2017 to 2021, we will provide endowments of EUR 200,000 per year in order to equip the chair with both the human and material resources it needs. In this way, we want to promote and enhance the quality of research and teaching at the House of Finance.
Helaba supports the Green and Sustainable Finance Cluster Germany via a Platin sponsorship and through WIBank as a founding member.
