Helaba Invest – successful first closing for HI Real Estate Asia Fund
Helaba Invest has raised a total of around EUR 76 million from institutional investors for its HI Real Estate Asia Fund, which it launched at the end of November. Overall, Helaba Invest manages a real estate investment portfolio with a total volume of EUR 5.8 billion.
The HI Real Estate Asia Fund is a special fund under Luxemburg law that indirectly invests in pan-Asian properties. Importance is attached to a broad diversification in terms of regions and sectors. As a value added fund-of-fund, the fund aims for an average distribution of 3 percent as well as a total return of 10 percent.
With the HI Real Estate Asia Fund, Helaba Invest is pursuing a rigorous expansion of its “Real Estate” business field. “Asia offers interesting investment opportunities. For us, this successful first closing underlines the fact that we are meeting the needs of institutional investors in an on-going environment of low and negative interest rates with our focussed products”, says Ulrich Lingner, a Member of the Board of Managers of Helaba Invest. In the scope of a second closing, the aim of the company is to increase the volume to EUR 200 million.
Helaba Invest’s unique selling point on the German market remains an investment strategy that is consistently focussed on specialised, indirect real estate investments (multi manager). Recent years have seen the company build up a large pool of expertise in this field. “We continue to be convinced that our strategy of selecting specialised fund investments for our clients delivers significant added value”, Lingner adds.
Helaba Invest was founded in 1991 as a wholly-owned subsidiary of Helaba. Since then, it has been responsible within the Helaba Group for the professional management of assets of institutional investors.
Since January 2012, Helaba Invest’s business strategy has been based on the three pillars of “Master KVG”, “Asset Management Securities, SAA and TAA” as well as “Asset Management Real Estate and Alternative Asset Classes”. With a volume of assets under management of approx. EUR 161 billion, Helaba Invest is one of the leading Capital Management Companies in the segment of institutional asset management.
